Mass. Political Races Will Dominate In 2018
BOSTON (AP) _ For Massachusetts politicos, 2017 had been something of a breather after the tumultuous 2016 presidential contest.
This year should more than make up for the lull with big contests on Beacon Hill and in Congress.
At the Statehouse, the top contest is the race for governor. Republican Charlie Baker is vying for a second term while three challengers are hoping to return the seat to Democrats.
The other top race is Democratic U.S. Sen. Elizabeth Warren's re-election bid. She faces several Republicans and an independent.
Voters could also end up deciding the fate of several ballot questions, from a higher minimum wage to paid family leave.
The congressional race gaining the most attention and candidates is in the state's 3rd district where Democratic Rep. Niki Tsongas won't seek re-election.
