Man Seriously Hurt in Fireworks Accident
MANSFIELD — A man in Massachusetts has been injured in a fireworks accident.
Authorities say a 38-year-old Blackstone man was attempting to light a consumer-grade firework in a commuter rail parking lot when it exploded on Friday.
A Mansfield police officer was on duty nearby, heard the explosion, and applied a tourniquet to the victim's arm to slow bleeding. Police say he has suffered a ``significant hand injury,'' and was taken to an area trauma center.
Massachusetts State Police also responded and determined the area was safe and free from other explosives.
An investigation continues into why the man was lighting the firework in a parking lot. No further information is available on the man's identity or his condition.
