A man who for many years served as head team physician for the New England Patriots will speak at the Mattapoisett Free Public Library -- but if you want to attend the Dec. 28 event, you'd be wise to make a reservation.

Dr. Bert Zarins, a Mattapoisett resident, will provide tales from behind the scenes and recount his experiences. He'll discuss the history of the Patriots, including their 1986 Super Bowl run, show video clips, and talk about what it's like to be a doctor for a top professional football team. He is expected to bring all six Super Bowl rings, according to Wicked Local Mattapoisett.

Zarins is the Augustus Thorndike Clinical Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at Harvard Medical School and Emeritus Chief of Sports Medicine at Massachusetts General Hospital. He has also worked for the Boston Bruins, the New England Revolution soccer team, and was head physician for the US Olympic Team at the winter games in Sarajevo in 1986.

Seating is limited, so reservations are highly recommended. The event is set for Saturday, Dec. 28 at 2 p.m. The number at the Mattapoisett Library is (508) 758-4171. The library is located at 7 Barstow St.
