Liquor Sales Spike During Democratic National Convention
President Obama may have left Charlotte ahead in the polls, but many Democrats likely left with hangovers. WCNC-TV reports liquor sales spiked during the two weeks around the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte, North Carolina earlier this month. Liquor sold in bars and restaurants jumped by 30 percent compared to the same two weeks last year. County-run ABC liquor stores reported an extra 420-thousand dollars in wholesale receipts.
