In 2018, The New Bedford LGBTQ Film Series began with four documentaries featuring varying LGBTQ issues. Last season's overflow crowds prompted a search for a new venue to accommodate the number of LGBTQ community members and allies taking advantage of this compelling film series at no cost to attendees.

The goal of the film series is to provide free and accessible entertainment for the community, which aims to foster a deeper understanding of LGBTQ issues and provide networking opportunities for local LGBTQ individuals with various resource entities that exist on the SouthCoast.

Rebecca McCullough, president of the SouthCoast LGBTQ Network, says they are part of a collaboration of LGBTQ groups and allied organizations that are producing the second season of the New Bedford Winter Film Series. This year's lineup includes full feature films on the last Sunday of each month at the New Bedford Whaling Museum theater:

--Moonlight on January 27, the Academy Award-winning Best Picture of 2017

--Cloudburst on February 24

--3 Generations on March 31

--Pariah on April 28
