Items once belonging to President John F. Kennedy are sold at auction almost 50 years after his being assassinated.

Kennedy's Air Force One bomber jacket went for 570-thousand dollars Sunday. The items were put up for auction by a longtime aide. The jacket was among thousands of artifacts, including letters and books which had been stored at the home of David Powers who died back in 1998.

The collection was discovered in recent years by Powers' relatives as they prepared the home in Arlington, Massachusetts for sale. Kennedy was assassinated in November of 1963.
