Mother Nature spared the Southcoast of any significant damage as the remnants of Tropical Storm Hermine continue to dissipate.

In New Bedford, Department of Public Infrastructure Commissioner Zeb Arruda says about six trees were toppled by strong gusts of wind, and over a dozen tree limbs had fallen throughout the City Monday. He says DPI crews are out today cleaning up any other messes Hermine left in her almost insignificant wake.

Arruda tells WBSM News, however, he was hoping for more rain. "Ugh! Me more than anyone else. Definitely, we needed the rain," expressed Arruda. "The City is still in a voluntary water ban. We need everyone's help when it comes to that, try to conserve water as much as possible. We were certainly looking forward to a little bit of rain to help us out. But, unfortunately, we didn't get any rain."

Earlier today, as many as 14-hundred eversource customers in Dartmouth and New Bedford were without power. While it remains unclear if the outages were caused by the weather, service has been restored to most of those affected homes and businesses.
