This weekend you can bring the kids for some seriously sloppy fun at Frerichs Farm in Warren, Rhode Island. The fourth annual Thrive Outside in the Mud is taking place on Sunday, Sept. 18, and it's a chance for the whole family to get messy together.

If your kids have ever seen a BoldrDash run and wanted to get in on the climbing and crawling over obstacles, then this is the event for them.

The Thrive in the Mud run course is completely family-friendly and open to runners of all ages. Plus, for adults who aren't quite in shape for a five-mile BoldrDash, this run is just a mile from start to finish, so there's a chance you won't totally wipe yourself out.

Early registration is already underway at the BoldrDash website, though you can decide to be a last-minute addition to this fun run and sign up on-site day of.

The first wave of runners takes off at 10 a.m. and the final batch leaves the starting line at 12:10 p.m. Believe it or not, you can sign up to get muddy right up until noon.

So even if you have to watch a few runners get messy before your little sprinter wants to try things out, there will be tons of time that day for them to decide.

The best part is that all this messy family fun is for a very good cause. All proceeds benefit Thrive Outside, a foundation that believes in helping youth through hands-on, outdoor learning and nature play. And who doesn't love that?

Speaking of time in nature, check out the Bristol Audubon Nature Center below. It's a perfect place for your next outdoor adventure.
