Fall River police are seeking the man seen on surveillance video snatching the city library's pet turtle.

The 13-year-old turtle named Franklin was taken from the children's room of the Fall River Public Library on Saturday night.

Police say the man hid in the library until closing time and was caught on camera stealing the pet.

The library said on its Facebook page that Franklin was the library's ``beloved turtle mascot'' and staff are hoping for his safe return.

The turtle has been valued at approximately $80.

Police are urging residents to contact the station if they have any information on the whereabouts of the suspected turtle thief.
