After a long tenure as one of Patriot Place’s most recognizable eateries, CBS Sporting Club is permanently closing after this Sunday to make way for a new concept in the space.

The Foxboro establishment first opened in 2008 as CBS Scene, a themed restaurant that incorporated elements of the CBS network, including having televisions at each table where diners could dial up reruns of “Tiffany Network” classics like I Love Lucy and The Twilight Zone.

It was one of the anchors to what would become the sprawling Patriot Place in the ensuing years, creating a dining, retail and nightlife experience to Gillette Stadium beyond just New England Patriots games.

In 2018, the restaurant closed for six months and underwent renovations and a name change, reopening in July of that year as the CBS Sporting Club, with less of a focus on the network and described as a “sports bar restaurant” by Patriot Place Vice President and General Manager Brian Earley.

According to an employee of the CBS Sporting Club, the staff was informed on Friday, December 30 that this coming Sunday will be their final day.

“In order to accommodate a new concept at one of Patriot Place’s signature locations, Patriot Place and CBS have decided to sunset CBS Sporting Club following the conclusion of the 2022 Patriots season,” Patriot Place spokesperson Julia Pagliarulo told WBSM.

No details were provided about the new concept, but it sounds as if it could include some kind of future collaboration with CBS.

“Over the past 15 years, Patriot Place and CBS have enjoyed a great partnership, welcoming thousands of guests first to CBS Scene and then to CBS Sporting Club to make countless memories,” Pagliarulo said. “We look forward to continuing to work together in the future and greatly appreciate everyone’s years of support.”

CBS Sporting Club was located in the area of the north end zone of Gillette Stadium, which is currently undergoing a $225 million renovation expected to be completed before the start of the 2023 NFL season.
