It's a sad day for two local stars as both Jordan Todman and Arthur Lynch were cut by their respective teams, this afternoon, ahead of the league-wide 53-man roster deadline.

Both Todman and Lynch were standouts at Dartmouth High school before moving on to Division I college programs and then the NFL.

Todman, who was drafted by the San Diego Chargers in the sixth round of the 2011 draft, has bounced around through his four years in the league, making stops in Minnesota and Jacksonville. After signing a 1-year deal with the Carolina Panthers this off season, he looked like a safe bet to make the team.

While he had a productive preseason, including rushing for 72 yards and a score on just five carries in week four, the Panthers coaching staff decided not to make room for Todman on the final roster.

Lynch was drafted last year in the fifth round by the Miami Dolphins. After sitting out the whole season last year with a serious injury, the tight end was cut by Miami and promptly scooped up by the New York Jets early this preseason.

Lynch was not used by the Jets in either of their final preseason games and was cut along with 21 other players as the team trimmed its roster to 53.

While Todman and Lynch's futures look uncertain at this time, there's a chance better opportunities could present themselves in the coming days. Only time will tell what happens next but the town of Dartmouth is still very much behind their two NFL studs.
