A new finding on the artificial sweetener aspartame will likely be welcome news for companies like Coca-Cola.  The European Food Safety Authority says the sweetener used in products like diet soft drinks poses no health risks at current approved consumption levels.  Previous studies have linked aspartame to cancer and premature birth risks.  However, food safety regulators on both sides of the Atlantic have questioned those results, citing information gaps in the studies and other concerns.
