It's time for the Fitness Class Challenge. It's a  six-week program sponsored by tthe New Bedford Wellness Initiative urging area residents to get in shape and adopt a healthier lifestyle. The best part is the cost is completely free. Programs include nutrition demonstrations, fitness classes, meditation and more. Cardiologist Dr. Michael Rocha of Hawthorn Medical Associates and Co-Director Julie Fostin organize the program. Dr. Rocha and Julie Fostin join Jim Phillips this week on Townsquare Sunday to discuss the Fitness Class Challenge, some of the programs available, and how you can get involved. All activities will take place at the Boys and Girls Club of New Bedford on Sundays, except for the Walk with the Doc on Saturdays at Buttonwood Park.

Townsquare Sunday is a weekly public affairs program heard every Sunday morning at 6 on 1420 WBSM. The program highlights individuals and organizations working to make Greater New Bedford a better place to live.  If you miss the broadcast, interview segments can be heard on wbsm.com and on the WBSM App.

If you have a public event, festival, or neighborhood activity you want to publicize, submit your information here. You can also send an e-mail to Jim Phillips at jim.phillips@townsquaremedia.com. This program can also be heard by downloading the WBSM app.
