Fire Destroys Antique Volkswagen in Acushnet [VIDEO]

ACUSHNET - Car lovers might be pained to hear this story, but an antique Volkswagen was lost to a fire in Acushnet Wednesday.

Fire officials tell WBSM News the 1975 Volkswagen Bus caught fire just after noon yesterday at Middle Road and Leonard Street.

Firefighters had difficulty putting the fire out since the engine block was made of magnesium, which melted as a result of the fire. The antique bus was a total loss.

Fortunately, nobody was injured during the fire.

Investigators believe a fuel leak is to blame.
