FALMOUTH — Authorities in the Cape Cod town of Falmouth are investigating a homicide that occurred Monday night in a motel in the village of Teaticket, which left one person dead and another injured.

According to Cape and Islands District Attorney Michael O’Keefe, on February 8 at approximately 6:40 p.m., Falmouth Police responded to 34 Maravista Avenue Extension, the site of the CapeWind Waterfront Resort, for a well-being check after receiving a call from friends of the resident.

Upon arrival, police observed an unconscious female lying on the floor, while a second individual was observed lying on the bed with obvious injuries to his neck and hand, the D.A’s office said.

The woman was later identified as Danielle Taylor, 32, of Mashpee. She was transported to Falmouth Hospital where she was later pronounced deceased. The male individual was med-flighted to a hospital in Rhode Island.

According to the D.A., the two had previously been dating.

An autopsy is scheduled for tomorrow morning at the state medical examiner’s office in Boston. The incident remains under investigation by Falmouth Police and Massachusetts State Police detectives assigned to the Cape and Islands District Attorney’s Office.
