He heard a loud bang and felt something hit his leg, according to police, and was treated at Charlton Memorial Hospital for his injury.

Detectives from the city's Major Crimes Division investigated and eventually identified the suspect as 27-year-old Dillon Silvester.

A warrant was issued for his arrest on charges of armed assault to murder and multiple firearms offenses including carrying a loaded firearm in public without a license and a firearm violation with one prior violent or drug offense.

New Bedford police arrested Silvester on Oct. 24 for separate charges.

They said officers responded to 78 Nelson St. in New Bedford for a shots fired call at around 12 a.m. on Sunday.

Silvester allegedly fired a gun during a heated argument.

No injuries were reported but there was damage to the building.

New Bedford police are charging him with three counts of attempted assault and battery as well as multiple firearms charges.

The home was searched, but police said the firearm was not found.

Upon his arrest in New Bedford, he was also charged for the Fall River shooting.
