Fall River Man Sentenced Again for Assaulting Wife
FALL RIVER (WBSM) — A Fall River man was sentenced for the third time for assaulting his wife just days after being released from jail.
Bristol County District Attorney Thomas M. Quinn III announced that Shawn Rego, 32, was convicted on January 15 after a jury trial in Fall River Superior Court for assault and battery on a family member.
Rego was sentenced to serve two and a half years in the Bristol County House of Correction.

Details of the October 2024 Incident
On or about October 17, 2024, Rego was released from the House of Correction after serving an 18-month sentence for assaulting his wife, which at the time was his second conviction for assaulting her. After his release, he moved back in with his mother, with his estranged wife and children living in the apartment below.
Rego immediately began contacting his wife, leading her to seek and obtain a temporary restraining order on October 21, 2024. That same day, after interacting with his children, Rego followed his wife into her apartment and assaulted her. She immediately contacted her sister, who then called the Fall River Police.
DA Statement on Repeat Offender
"The defendant has a history of assaulting the victim and was on parole at the time he committed this offense. He simply doesn't get it," D.A. Quinn said.
