Fall River Child Rapist Sent Back to Prison for Probation Violation
FALL RIVER (WBSM) — A Fall River man is returning to prison for another two to three years after he violated his probation on child rape charges.
Bristol County District Attorney Thomas M. Quinn III said Richard Brown, 46, was sentenced to serve the additional two to three years in state prison, followed by five years of probation.
Background of Richard Brown’s 2016 Convictions
He had previously pleaded guilty in 2016 to two counts of statutory rape of a child and two counts of indecent assault and battery on a child under 14 for sexually assaulting his stepdaughter when she was between six and eight years old.
Brown had been sentenced to five to six years for those crimes, followed by 10 years of supervised probation. As part of the conditions of his probation, he had to wear a GPS monitor, attend sex offender counseling and have no unsupervised contact with minors without prior approval of the court, and was not allowed to date anyone with minor children without court approval.

How Brown Violated His Probation
However, Brown committed multiple violations of those conditions, and was found to have been in a relationship with a woman that had two minor children. Brown had also spent several nights at her residence, where the children lived, further violating his probation.
D.A.'s Statement on the Case
"Credit goes to the Probation Officer for investigating the defendant’s whereabouts and determining that he was in a relationship with a woman who had two minor children without obtaining the approval of the Probation Department,” Quinn said. “This was a second violation by the defendant who is a convicted sex offender.”
