Fall River Murderer Sentenced to 20-Plus Years in Prison

FALL RIVER (WBSM) — The man convicted of second degree murder in the May 2020 shooting death of Jake Williams in Fall River has been sentenced to over 20 years in state prison.

According to Fall River Police Chief Paul Gauvin, Rayquan Robinson, 27, was convicted Wednesday on charges of second degree murder, armed assault with intent to murder and carrying a firearm without a license.

The charges stem from May 6, 2020, when Fall River Police responded to reports of a shooting in the area of Mott Street and Warren Street. First responders arrived to find the victim, Williams, suffering from a gunshot wound. The 22-year-old from Fall River was rushed to St. Anne’s Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.

This morning, Robinson was sentenced in Fall River Superior Court to serve a minimum of 20.5 years in prison.

“I would like to commend the Major Crimes Division, Crime Scene Unit, and Uniform Division Officers for their hard work and dedication,” Chief Gauvin said. “This is a shining example of the effective collaboration between the Fall River Police Department, Massachusetts State Police, and Bristol County District Attorney's Office.”

“This is the second case in two weeks where a defendant has been sentenced to over 20 years in prison for crimes committed in Fall River,” Gauvin said. “Violent crime will not go unaddressed in our community.”
