
Former Fall River Mayor Will Flanagan Stabbed, Police Investigating
UPDATE: Fall River Police said a suspect was taken into custody at about 8:30 a.m. today. He was later identified as Corree Gonzales, 31.
FALL RIVER (WBSM) — Former Fall River Mayor Will Flanagan has been hospitalized after he was stabbed on Monday.
Police Respond to Hartwell Street Stabbing
According to Fall River Police, multiple calls came in around 5 p.m. on October 20 reporting a man had been stabbed near the 100 block of Hartwell Street. Fall River Police and EMS arrived and found that the victim was Flanagan.
Flanagan owns the Cosmopolitan cannabis dispensary at 82 Hartwell Street.
Flanagan’s Injuries and Condition
Police said that Flanagan “sustained significant injuries.” He was taken to a local hospital where he was listed in serious but stable condition.
Police Working Multiple Leads
The investigation is active and ongoing, and police said they are “working multiple leads toward identifying the suspect.”
“Our patrol officers and detectives responded swiftly and are working diligently to identify and apprehend who is responsible for this senseless act of violence,” Fall River Police Chief Kelly Furtado said. “We will exhaust every resource to ensure justice is served. I want to thank the Mayor’s Office for their continued support as we move forward with this investigation.”
