A man arrested a year ago on drug and gun charges, was sentenced this week to six to eight years in state prison.

The District Attorney's office says 24 year old Nathanial Sylvester of Fall River was sentenced this week in Fall River Superior Court.

Sylvester was arrested in February, 2015 by members of the Southeastern Mass. Gang Task Force following a motor vehicle stop, in which a semi-automatic handgun was recovered along with quantities of heroin and cocaine.

A co-defendant, 23 year old Brent Coururier of Fall River, is already serving a six-year prison term.

Authorities say both men are repeat offenders.

District Attorney Thomas Quinn says he's pleased both men were given lengthy prison sentences and will be off the street for a significant period of time.
