FALL RIVER — A Fall River man has been arrested after police said they caught him with an unlicensed firearm earlier this week.

At around 8:35 a.m. Monday, officers received a tip that 23-year-old Carson Underwood had allegedly threatened someone with a gun, according to police.

Officer Marques Pires spotted the suspect walking near South Main and Peckham streets, but said Underwood fled on foot when he approached.

The officers giving chase said that while running, Underwood discarded a bag that police later found to contain a 9mm pistol with a 30-round magazine.

Underwood was caught and arrested near the Globe Street Car Wash at 950 Broadway.

Police said Underwood does not have a license to carry firearms in Massachusetts.

He faces several felony firearms charges.
