FALL RIVER (WBSM) — A Fall River woman has been sentenced to state prison for two shootings that occurred in the city back in the Fall of 2024.

Bristol County District Attorney Thomas M. Quinn III announced Monday that Dannyshka Figueroa-Bermudez, 27, was convicted after pleading guilty in Fall River Superior Court on August 8 to nine counts of attempted assault and battery by firearm, two counts of malicious damage to a motor vehicle, and two counts of improper storage of a firearm.

She was sentenced to serve three to five years in state prison.

Two Early-Morning Shootings, Weeks Apart

The first incident happened just before dawn on September 7, 2024. The victim, who was the stepfather of Figueroa-Bermudez’s ex-girlfriend, awoke to gunshots outside his home at 98 Raymond Street in Fall River.

He discovered his motor vehicle had been shot six times, and his kitchen window struck three times. Fall River Police recovered spent shell casings in the area of the shooting, and the sound of gunshots was also captured on surveillance video.

The second incident took place on October 27, 2024, again just before dawn, outside of the same residence. This time, the victim heard several gunshots and looked out the window to see Figueroa-Bermudez. The victim’s vehicle had been struck again. The police again recovered numerous spent shell casings, and surveillance video showed Figueroa-Bermudez walking down the driveway and firing several rounds into the building’s second floor. The video showed that the firearm had a laser sight attached.

Evidence Recovered From Suspect’s Home

Police searched Figueroa-Bermudez’s home and found clothing consistent with that on the surveillance video, and also seized two firearms, a laser sight, and ammunition that matched the caliber of the recovered spent shell casings from both shootings.

Massachusetts State Police then matched the spent casings to the firearm recovered at Figueroa-Bermudez’s residence. She then admitted to the shootings during an interview with police. She did possess a license to carry firearms, the D.A.’s Office said.

Figueroa-Bermudez was also arrested in June 2023 for her role in a large fight and stabbing in New Bedford's South End.

DA Quinn Condemns Gun Violence

"This is yet another example of senseless violence that could have resulted in severe injury to the occupants of the building. This case again highlights the importance of surveillance video in solving violent crimes, especially involving firearms,” D.A. Quinn said. “The defendant has demonstrated that she is a danger to the victim and the community and needs to be kept off the streets to protect the public.”
