FALL RIVER (WBSM) — You’ve heard of coming home for the holidays, but in Fall River, it’s time to haunt for the holidays.

Factory of Terror, one of the SouthCoast’s most beloved Halloween season attractions, is hosting a “Family Holiday Weekend” at the haunt’s gift shop. In addition to local artisans and crafters offering their wares, it will feature an appearance from Krampus, the season’s spookiest mythical creature.

You’ll be able to take a free photo with him, as well as other special holiday guests. It will all be happening at the Factory of Terror space, located at 120 Pearl Street.

“We are excited to welcome the community for a fun and festive holiday weekend,” Factory of Terror said in a release. “It is a great opportunity to support local small businesses, enjoy some family time, and check out our expanded holiday gift shop offerings.”

Who Is Krampus?

The goat-like figure known as Krampus has become quite popular in recent years. In pre-Germanic pagan tradition, December 5 is “Krampusnacht,” when Krampus appears to beat misbehaving children with birch switches, stuff them in his sack, and then carry them away. As it has become St. Nicholas’ job to reward good children, it is Krampus’s job to deal with the bad ones.
