Pets make a house a home, and with so many shelters in the area, the opportunities for a new best friend are endless. I encourage SouthCoast pet lovers to consider adopting.

For Wet Nose Wednesday, local shelters and I are on a mission to get as many pets adopted as possible to give animals a chance at a happier life and bring joy to families on the SouthCoast. This week, our furry friend comes from the Fairhaven Animal Shelter in Fairhaven.

Meet Max. He is a five-year-old lab/greyhound mix with the floppiest of ears and the sweetest smile. He arrived at the shelter with anxiety and was oftentimes skittish, but after making some doggy friends at the shelter, he has evolved into a friendly pup living his best life.

Here’s the thing: most families in the market for a dog go straight for the puppy, leaving older dogs often overlooked. That leaves dogs like Max to grow old in shelters. Every dog deserves its day, they just need the right fit. Max will fit in with any family that is willing to open their hearts to a dog that is past his puppy days. He gets along with other dogs and would do best in a home with other animals to help with his anxiety. Belly rubs and ear scratches are not required, but highly suggested.

Interested in meeting Max? Make an appointment and follow the Fairhaven Animal Shelter on Facebook.
