TAUNTON — A reported explosion at a chemical plant in Taunton has injured three people.

The explosion was reported shortly after midnight Sunday at IQE, a semiconductor plant at 200 John Hancock Road. The explosion triggered a Tier 2 Hazardous Materials Response after Taunton firefighters learned that hazardous materials may have been released into the air during the explosion. The response determined that there was no danger to the surrounding environment.

Three workers suffered flash burns to their faces and hands. They were treated at Morton Hospital for their injuries.

The cause of the reported explosion is under investigation.
