Epic Illuminated Event Makes Return to Providence This Winter
Downtown Providence will be illuminated with unique art pieces again this winter with the return of Lumina.
If you missed the event last winter, bundle up and check it out this time around when the entire thing moves to the heart of downtown Providence and gets bigger and brighter than ever.
Dubbed "Lumina 2025:Play!" it is sure to appeal to the whole family.
Last winter the Lumina Winter Festival brought nearly 300,000 visitors to Providence to check out the towering, illuminated 'Prismatica' art installation at the pedestrian bridge.

The stunning, spinning prisms of color were a fun reason to get out and explore during the 'cabin fever' era of winter.
This year from February 1-17, the light up event is back and it's brighter than ever before.
That's because this year the city will welcome the "POP!" exhibit by Gentilhomme, which includes POP, POPUP, POPLI, POPETTE and POPOTIN. The five 'pops' are light up monoliths each containing a unique inflatable character that can be called up, talked to and even sung with.
The monoliths are just one part of an over two week long light festival that will be turning the Greater Kennedy Plaza into a winter wonderland.
The weeks will also be filled with ice dance performances at the newly restored downtown ice rink, local cultural performances and live music events.
You can also enjoy other art installations from LeMonde Studios, including "Light Lane", where you provide the pedal power on stationary bikes that light up and play music.

Kids can get hands on with music too on the "Harmonies" installations with larger than life musical instruments to climb on and interact with.
It all sounds like a great way to beat the winter blues and get the kids out of the house.
More event info is coming, but the Lumina Winter Festival will start to transform downtown Providence starting February 1, 2025.
