Elderly Man Confirmed Dead in New Bedford-Fairhaven Bridge Crash

NEW BEDFORD — A serious motor vehicle accident on the New Bedford – Fairhaven Bridge Wednesday morning has resulted in one death.

The Bristol County District Attorney’s Office says an elderly man died in the crash.  The man has not yet been identified.

New Bedford and Fairhaven Police shut down all road access to Pope’s Island while first responders addressed the scene, leaving traffic backed up for an extended period of time.

The DA’s Office says that it does not appear any criminal charges will result from the crash.
