Dunkin’s Best-Selling and Least Healthy Products
They say that America runs on Dunkin'. Well, you may need to take up running after eating some of the chain's products.
When the first Massachusetts-based Dunkin' Donuts opened in Quincy in 1948, no one could have imagined that America would become addicted to coffee-based drinks and that there would be such an assortment of donuts.
As a kid in the 1960s, no one spazzed out on coffee all day. I recall only one Dunkin' Donuts location in New Bedford, the one on Nauset Street, and drive-thru windows weren't a thing yet.
Blast forward to today. Dunks are everywhere. They are all over the globe, and they serve a heck of a lot more than coffee and old-fashioned donuts.
There are sprinkled donuts, cream-filled donuts, frosted donuts, cookie butter donuts, apple cider donuts, apple streusel donuts, toasted coconut donuts and more.
Some donuts taste better than others, and some are healthier than others.
The Telegraph says Dunkin's 10 best-selling donuts include White Chocolate (No. 10), Bavarian Filled (No. 9), Glazed (No. 8), Chocolate Lover (No. 7), Chocolate Sprinkles (No. 6), Rainbow Sprinkles (No. 5), Double Carmel (No. 4), Vanilla Frosted (No. 3), Carmel Frosted (No. 2), and Boston Cream (No. 1).
VeryWell Fit says Dunkin's "Glazed jelly stick is the highest calorie donut, coming in at 540 calories, 30 grams of fat, 15 grams of saturated fat, 66 grams of carbohydrates, 4 grams of protein, 37 grams of sugars, and 430 mg of sodium."
The site lists the Apple Fritter at 510 calories, the Bismark at 480, the Lemon Stick at 470, the Peanut Donut at 470, and the Maple Cream Stick at 460 calories.
VeryWell Fit says Dunkin' "offers options for patrons on a gluten-free, low-carb, low-fat, low-sodium, vegetarian, and vegan diets, but does not have many options for those on a diabetes-friendly or low FODMAP diet."
