As if New Bedford didn't have enough problems, Senator Elizabeth Warren is coming for a visit. Come on, man! We've already got COVID, is this fair?

What a shock, our senior U.S. Senator will pose for pictures at an as yet to open COVID-19 vaccination center on the waterfront on Wednesday that will serve seafood workers. The center will be operated by the Greater New Bedford Community Health Center, according to a letter from the Mitchell Administration that was obtained on Tuesday by WBSM.

So the senator who has ignored the New Bedford fishing industry since being elected to the U.S. Senate in 2013 suddenly cares about seafood workers. What a joke. Elizabeth Warren cares about Elizabeth Warren. Period. Warren will exploit any opportunity that makes her look good.

Gee, I wonder if our environmental queen will show up in an electric car? After all, New Bedford has become Green Acres under the Mitchell Administration. Do you think Warren, who seems to have nothing but disdain for the police and guns, has asked New Bedford Police Chief Joseph Cordeiro to provide her with armed police protection while she is here?

I can't wait to see how many local elected officials will scramble to get next to Warren when the pics get snapped. It might be boffo for someone with future political aspirations to be photographed at a COVID vaccination center with Liz Warren.

Warren was silent when Barack Obama declared fishing grounds off the New England coast a memorial, preventing local fishermen from earning a living there. She raised no objections when the government imposed strict restrictions on those same fishermen regarding how many hours they could work and how much fish they could catch.

Warren has yet to speak out against the Biden Administration's plan to open the New York Bight, a rich fishing area off the coast of New York, to windmills, even though the industry says the move could be catastrophic. Most of the fish caught there is sold in New Bedford.

Elizabeth Warren is about as wanted here as COVID, yet come she will. But take heart, she won't stay long, and it will be a good long time before she comes back again.
