October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, and each year, the New Bedford Woman's Center ends the month with a candlelight march through Downtown New Bedford, and a memorial service at the First Unitarian Church.

Fourteen domestic violence victims from Massachusetts who died during the past year, were remembered last night during the hour-long service.

Women's Center Director Pamela MacLeod-Lima says too many "celebrities" are still getting a pass when it comes to domestic violence.

The service also highlighted the Clothesline Project, featuring dozens of tee-shirts on display, inscribed by domestic violence victims.
