DATMA Shines in New Bedford [TOWNSQUARE SUNDAY]

Public art in New Bedford is alive and well, thanks to DATMA, or Design, Art, Technology, Massachusetts. DATMA first set up shop in New Bedford in 2019 and created the much-talked-about "Silver Current" exhibit at Custom House Square, along with other events and displays around the city.

This year, there are two new exhibits up and running in New Bedford and both have "light" as part of their theme. One is a window display at the former Star Store building (above), the other can be seen in the evening from Paul Cuffee Park, outside the Whaling Museum (below).

DATMA Executive Director Lindsay Miś speaks with WBSM's Jim Phillips about this year's creations, and why public art is important for all communities. The interview can be heard here:
