DARTMOUTH — Dartmouth police are looking for the suspect in a Monday bicycle theft, and they're asking for the public's help identifying him.

Police said in a Facebook post that a young man rode away on a bicycle stolen from a Slocum Road yard at around noon on Monday.

Det. Kyle Costa told WBSM that the bicycle was taken from a home at the northern end of Slocum Road, near Route 6.

In a surveillance image of the suspect provided by the department, a young man can be seen wearing a white baseball cap, a white T-shirt, black backpack, grey sweatpants, and white sneakers.

It is unclear what the bicycle in question looks like.

In the department's typical humorous social media style, police write in the post, "The hardest thing about riding a bike is having to explain to a magistrate why you stole it!"

Anyone with any information on the suspect or the theft is asked to contact Det. Kyle Costa at 508-910-1755, message the department on Facebook, or submit an anonymous tip using Tip411.
