Officials in Dartmouth are asking "what's next" after voters on Tuesday rejected a plan to renovate the Russells Mills Road Police Station at a cost of $8 million.

Selectboard member Frank Gracie tells WBSM's Taylor Cormier, he wants residents to tell him what they want.

"Because the voter turnout was so low, we really don't have a sense of what the town really wants. I encourage those people to tell us what they want, how much money they're willing to spend, that sort of thing," said Gracie.

Gracie also thinks more publicity and public discussion was needed about the proposal before the election.

The police station was shut down just over two years ago, following an outbreak of Legionnaires Disease.

For now, the Police Department remains housed in modular units behind the Russells Mills Site.
