Residents filled the main meeting room at Town Hall Tuesday, waiting to speak out against a proposed student housing development on Old Westport Road. But before the hearing began, Pennsylvania-based Vision Development withdrew its request to build on the former gravel pit. The company had been looking to build a private, 21 unit student housing complex.

But neighboring resident Megan Monteiro says the fight against the development is far from over.

Over 300 residents signed a petition opposing the development, which would have provided dormitory-style housing for over 500 students.

Vision's attorney, Walter Smith, says his client is still "very interested" in developing the property.
