UPDATE 2:36 p.m.: The suspect is in custody and both mother and baby have been found safe at an apartment on Rock Street in Fall River.

DARTMOUTH — State and Dartmouth police are searching for a man allegedly holding a woman and her baby against their will at knifepoint.

According to state police, as of Thursday afternoon at around 1:15 p.m., an amber alert has been issued for the baby, six-month-old Grayson Benson, who was abducted with his mother, 23-year-old Hannah Benson.

The suspect is identified as 21-year-old Jeremias Cabral of Dartmouth.

They are believed to be in a dark Mitsubishi sedan with Massachusetts plates 2LPT35.

Anyone who sees the vehicle or any of the people involved is urged to call 911 immediately.

The incident took place at around noon Thursday, and Cabral is believed to be armed with a knife, according to unconfirmed scanner reports.
