Dan Rather Rushes To Brian Williams’ Defense

Dan Rather tells Politico.com while he doesn't know all the details about the Iraq War story Williams is now backpedaling on, the "NBC Nightly News" anchor is still "an excellent reporter-anchor" and a brave one" in his opinion.

Williams is apologizing for "misremembering" the facts of a story he has often repeated about getting shot down in a helicopter by enemy fire in 2003. He admitted Wednesday that he was on a different helicopter than the one that was downed.
