The couple lived together in their Birchwood Drive home with their three children, who were found uninjured inside the house after the shooting at around 6:40 a.m. on June 22.

The investigation was conducted with "diligent efforts" from Cumberland Police detectives along with Rhode Island State Police, Rhode Island Attorney General Peter Neronha's office, and the State Medical Examiner's office, according to Benson.

“We are reminded that there are three children who lost their parents, and two families that are devastated by the loss of their loved ones,"  Benson said. "Our thoughts continue to be with them at this time.”
