Councilors grilled City Finance chief Ari Sky and Solicitor Mikaela McDermott at Monday night's Fnance Committee meeting about city finances, but came away with few answers.

Councilors pressed Sky and McDermott about how the potential $1.8 million liability from a pending appeal by AFSCME over Lang administration-era furloughs would be paid. Councilors also asked what the status of negotiations are with several other city unions.

The committee received few answers, however, as Sky and McDermott cited ongoing negotiations and said no specific funds have been aside.  Finance Committee chair Linda Morad was not pleased with the responses....

Chief Financial Officer Sky says the administration is looking at several options to fund the AFSCME liability, saying money could be drawn from free cash or the city's stabilization fund.
