State Senator Mark Montigny says there should have been more regulation on the Mass. Compounding Pharmacies right from the start.  One such pharmacy, the New England Compounding Center of Framingham, is being blamed for producing a tainted steroid that officials say caused  a nationwide outbreak of fungal meningitis, and 44 deaths.  The firm has since closed and declared bankruptcy,  Montigny's Post Audit and Oversight Committee in the Senate is holding a hearing Thursday on the scandal, and what Montigny beleives is a lack of regulation on the Compounding Pharmacy industry.....

The Senate Committee will hear from two critics of the Compounding Pharmacy industry, who will discuss what steps the commonwealth can take to develop regulations free of influence from industry lobbyists and insiders.
