The annual Christmas Lights display at Clasky Park in New Bedford will be lit on Sunday night at 5:30, but a lot of work has to take place before then to get the display ready.

Much of the work is being done by carpentry and electrical students from Greater New Bedford Voc-Tech High School.

Carpentry instructor Frank Gonsalves tells WBSM News the holiday display will feature some new items this year. "We built a little runway for Santa's sleigh up near the deer barn, and we created a runway with lights," said Gonsalves.

Senior Naija Amado was working on wiring the displays. She wants to make sure the lights go on Sunday night when the Mayor flips the switch.

"I'll be here on Sunday and I'm hoping everything goes smoothly. We went through all the procedures to make sure everything runs well, double-checking and all that."

Amado says she will be very proud when the lights go on Sunday evening. The lighting ceremony at Clasky is scheduled for Sunday at 5:30pm.
