Members of the South Dartmouth Firefighters Association are hosting a clam boil this Saturday to honor Ryan Ferreira, a Dartmouth call firefighter who died on April 25 at the age of 31.

According to South Coast Today.com, "the proceeds of the event will benefit Ferreira’s family." Chowder will be served at 5pm, and a clam boil will follow.

The association hosts two dinners a year to raise money for charity. This year, with Ferreira being “one of our own,’’ they decided to honor their friend and support his family.

The association hopes to honor Ferreira with a dinner in his name every year, Costa said.

The event is sold out, but the association is accepting donations for the Ferreira’s family. Donations can be dropped off at the fire station, at 10 Bridge Street, or mailed. Checks should be made payable to the South Dartmouth Firefighters Association, with “Ryan Ferreira Fund’’ written in the memo line.
