The Boston Celtics dropped their preseason finale to the New York Knicks, 121-96, Wednesday night.

While the loss is not the ideal way the team had hoped to conclude it's preparation for the season, the more troubling aspect was the loss of guard Marcus Smart.

According to a CSNNE.com report, Smart, who left the game early on with an apparent ankle injury, is expected to be unavailable for the first few weeks of the regular season.

With that fact in mind, it is unlikely that Smart's injury will factor too much into the team's final decision about it's final roster spot. Currently, guards R.J. Hunter and James Young are the front runners for the fifteenth and final spot.

Neither player brings the skill set of Smart.
