NEW BEDFORD — There were multiple injuries Thursday night after a car crashed through a New Bedford auto insurance agency.

New Bedford Police, Fire and EMS units responded to Fernando Rodrigues Insurance at approximately 9:30 p.m. to find a silver Nissan Altima that had crashed through the front window of the 2068 Acushnet Avenue building.

The Altima had also apparently struck a black Hyundai sedan during the incident, which occurred at the busy Acushnet Avenue and Wood Street intersection. It’s unknown if the Hyundai was actively driving when the crash occurred, or if the Altima had struck the car while it was parked. At the scene of the crash, the Hyundai was facing the wrong way on Acushnet Avenue, touching front bumpers with another sedan parked on the side of the road.

The driver of the Hyundai was being treated by first responders and being placed into a neck brace immediately following the crash, though she was sitting upright. The female driver of the Nissan, along with a male passenger, were being treated on the Wood Street side of the insurance agency,

It’s unclear at this time what caused the crash or who may have been at fault.
