Let it be known to all you swashbucklers, sword slingers and seadogs, the Cape Cod Pirate Festival is dropping anchor at the Yarmouth Fairgrounds this summer for its second event ever, and it promises a weekend full of pirate shenanigans.

Chris Schultz, producer and mastermind behind the unique festival, was overwhelmed with gratitude over the success of the inaugural event in 2021.

“It was so rewarding to be able to give something entertaining to the community,” he said.

Schultz used to be a general manager of a renaissance festival in Florida and has produced other events throughout the years. He moved to the Cape in 2016, and last year, he decided to make his own vision a reality.

“I decided I wanted to get back to my roots,” he said. “Last year was the first one, and it had an incredible response. It was planned hastily but came out very nicely.”

With one event under his belt, he was firing on all cylinders when it came time to plan for 2022.

This year, The Cape Cod Pirate Festival will be two weekends instead of one, with three different stages for entertainment and three times as many vendors as last year.

Schultz got incredible feedback from the Cape Cod community.

“Last year, the sentiment was that there is not a lot of family entertainment on the Cape,” he said. “Our focus is to have a fun place for the entire family to enjoy.”

And the best part? Escaping the real world for a few hours. The Yarmouth Fairgrounds will be transformed into a pirate’s paradise, where buccaneers can spend their booty on anything their dark hearts desire.

The Cape Cod Pirate Festival takes place on June 4, 5, 11 and 12 at the Yarmouth Fairgrounds in West Yarmouth.
