The Buzzards Bay Coalition is set to announce it's latest plans for the former Acushnet Sawmills property.

The ecological restoration project will turn the 19-acres of overgrown weeds and cracked pavement into a recreational destination for people to enjoy.

Coalition Vice President Brendan Annett tells WBSM News the restoration will mean a quiet place for those looking for solace.

The $1.2 million restoration project, funded mostly by the New Bedford Harbor Trustees Council, will create walking paths, scenic overlooks, and an education center on the property. Annett says ground-breaking will likely take place next winter, taking up to two years to complete.

An official unveiling of the project plans is taking place Wednesday night at 6pm at Acushnet Town Hall.
