acquired veteran defenseman Nick Holden from the New York Rangers, Tuesday, in exchange for defenseman Rob O'Gara and a third round pick in the 2018 NHL Draft.

The 30-year-old is expected to add much needed depth to Boston's defensive unit. While his numbers are down this year, after a career year in his first season with the Rangers in which he scored 11 goals and added 23 assists, he will still add a veteran presence and track record of ability to the NHL club.

O'Gara, who has played mostly for the AHL's Providence Bruins, was not ready to regularly contribute to Boston's team.
