As if spring-like weather, longer days with more sunshine, and great Irish music were not enough reasons to long for St. Patrick's Day, here is another reason: a new Irish-themed brewery and distillery coming to Bristol, Rhode Island.

Good news for those who recall when Irish pubs were all the rage in the Greater New Bedford area.

By luck o' the Irish, co-owners and partners Chris Kerr, Michael Godet and Jason Buck will have the new Trágmar Ale Works open and ready for the "wearin' o' the green" on St. Paddy's Day, March 17.

"We purchased the assets of an existing craft brewery in Bristol, Rhode Island (Six Pack Brewing) and are in the process of rebranding/updating the interior, plus awaiting our brewing licenses at the federal and state levels, so that we can re-open," Kerr said.

"We are hoping to have everything lined up for a grand opening in mid-March, maybe a St. Patrick's weekend grand opening if the timing works," he said.

Kerr was "born and reared in the Irish village of Cushendall on the Co. Antrim coast." After emigrating to the United States in 2007, Kerr met and married his wife Jeanne and settled in Rhode Island.

Kerr chucked an 18-year career in aerospace engineering/management to focus on starting the brewery.

Michael Godet was born in Providence and raised in Warren. Godet has a background in science, brewing, and veterinary medicine with degrees from URI and Johnson & Wales. Godet and his wife Lindsay have two children.

Air Force veteran Jason Buck is a South Kingstown native with an MBA in business. Buck said he discovered his passion for craft brewing through the 6-Pack Brewery Club. Buck and his wife Jennifer reside in Bristol.

Trágmar Ale Works will be located at 87 Gooding Avenue in Bristol, about a half-hour from New Bedford.

The Best of South Shore Bar Pizza

There's pizza, and then there's South Shore Bar Pizza. Birthed in Brockton (and to this writer, perfected in Randolph – Lynwood Café is the true G.O.A.T.), it must meet certain qualifications to be considered "SSBP," which include: it's a 10-inch pie; it has a thin, cracker-like crust with minimal "flop;" the cheese is a blend that features more cheddar than mozzarella; and bonus points if you take it home between two carboard-type plates wrapped in flat brown paper bag. They also usually come with "laced" or "burnt" edges (terminology depends on where you are ordering), which is when the sauce and cheese are extended all the way to the edge of the pan, creating a crispy, flavorful coating to the crust. We reached out to the hugely popular South Shore Bar Pizza Social Club Facebook group to ask the experts to share the best of the best (in no particular order).
