Massachusetts Native Tyrus Has ‘Horrific’ Memories of Boston

I first became aware of Tyrus when I saw him on Fox News Channel chatting politics with former White House Press Secretary Dana Perino several years ago.

You've got to admit, at first glance, Tyrus and Perino appear to be the ultimate odd couple.

I hadn't followed professional wrestling since Chief Jay Strongbow and Pedro Morales mixed it up with Fred Blassie and Crazy Luke Graham at the Lincoln Park Ballroom when I was a kid, so I didn't know that Tyrus was a former pro wrestler, most notably for his time in WWE as "Brodus Clay."

I see Tyrus often on Fox and realize the truth in the adage, "Never judge a book by its cover." Tyrus and I agree on many points. Like me, Tyrus is conservative in many of his views.

George Timothy Murdoch (Tyrus) was born in Boston, Massachusetts, on February 21, 1973. From all accounts, his time in Massachusetts was anything but pleasant.

Independent Women's Voice (IWV) says, "The oldest child of a then-illegal biracial marriage, Tyrus (legally named George Murdoch), tells of horrific domestic violence against him and his white mother by his black father, who attempts to throw a young Tyrus out the window of their cramped, high-rise Boston apartment."

IWF says Tyrus' violent upbringing didn't end there. "After a California move, a dysfunctional white stepfather bashes out a 13-year-old Tyrus' front teeth."

The publication says at age 16, Tyrus beat his stepfather before leaving home with "his belongings in a trash bag, sparking years of couch surfing."

Tyrus eventually graduated from Antelope Valley College in California and the University of Nebraska at Kearney, where he played football while studying to be a teacher.

Tyrus' career path saw him work as a bodyguard for Snoop Dogg and his current position with the New York-based Fox News and several podcasts, but Tyrus does not live in New York.

Tyrus told Medium.com, "Yeah, no desire to live in New York. Giant buildings and it's cold, and I'm a big Patriot, Red Sox fan. What can I possibly do for fun in New York?"

Tyrus married his longtime girlfriend Ingrid Rinck Herbert in January 2024. The couple has a daughter, Georgia.
