Boston’s Museum of Ice Cream Opens Soon and We’ve Got the Scoop
OMG! There is a Museum of Ice Cream opening next month in Boston. That's my kind of museum.
Spare me the paintings and old dusty artifacts. Do you want to get my attention? Bring on the ice cream.
Achilles had his heel. With Sampson, it was his hair. Superman's weakness was kryptonite. Mine is ice cream: Coffee Oreo ice cream or anything with peanut butter; no nuts, cherries or whipped cream necessary, only a spoon.
Museum of Ice Cream is set to bring its "interactive immersive ice cream playground" to Boston with a brand-new, permanent location opening Saturday, December 14 at Boston Seaport. It joins other MOIC locations in Austin, Chicago, Miami, New York City and Singapore.
Museum of Ice Cream's website says, "Museum of Ice Cream is not a typical museum; it's an Experium! It is a place free from distractions, expectations, and inhibitions. Created to celebrate creativity, passion, and innovation, you can learn about ice cream history while enjoying our ice cream-themed installations."
MOIC Boston spans nearly 13,000 square feet over two floors.
According to a release, MOIC is for “ice cream lovers of all ages, from kids, teens, and adults” who want to celebrate, “from birthday parties to girl's night out, ultimate date nights, and everything in between.”
And there is lots of ice cream, too.
The featured experience is a “Lobstah” ice cream tasting. MOIC has also teamed up with Friendly’s to offer four ice cream bars within the museum, and is debuting the Salted Vanilla Fudge milkshake, featuring the limited edition Friendy’s flavor of the same name.
According to MOIC, a visit includes: “FunWay Park, a lively baseball-themed carnival area inspired by Fenway Park, where visitors enjoy carnival games and cotton candy flavors reminiscent of classic baseball snacks such as caramel buttered popcorn.”
“Guests also immerse in Cookie Living Room, designed to mimic a cozy living room entirely crafted from 'Chipwiches,'” MOIC said. “This whimsical space boasts cookie-shaped furniture and decor, complete with hidden doors leading to an ice cream library and delightful hidden treats waiting to be discovered. To close out the adventure, guests ride down the slide into the world-famous sprinkle pool.”
Museum of Ice Cream is open seven days a week. Hours and ticket prices are listed on the museum's website. Weekday tickets begin at $25 and weekend tickets start at $35. Kids ages two and under are free. Tickets are only available online and your visit must be scheduled.
